About us....

Green Futures is a green wellbeing space and community garden based in a 3.5-acre site that’s been a market garden/plant nursery for much of the last 100 years. It’s on the edge of Grimsby where our volunteers find sanctuary and companionship as well as a sense of purpose undertaking tasks such as seeding sowing, planting, growing, making and mending, repairs and maintenance. Visitors comment that you would never know such an amazing nature-rich space was along a main road into Grimsby.

In 2026 we opened our nature walk that takes in the small woodland area at the back of our site. We've also got a wetland area and an orchard full of heritage apples. The Green Futures charity is under new management and we have exciting plans for growing and developing this site and creating a community around caring for and celebrating nature and wildlife throughout the seasons.

Our vision

We want to build a meaningful green space and community garden where people and plants grow together and thrive, through engagement with nature and gardening. We have ambitious plans for celebrating the heritage and biodiversity of our 100-year-old site, educating future generations and putting us at the heart of a green community in this part of Grimsby to empower residents to deal with challenging times and build resilience and trusting relationships.

Our mission

To promote social inclusion and reduce social isolation by providing a welcoming space where people from our community can meet, work, learn, celebrate the seasons and make connections by volunteering, workshops, growing, education about nature and place, and attending regular events.
We will help our beneficiaries to build skills and resilience through skills building by working on gardening, wildlife and maintenance projects based on our 3.5-acre green space.
To celebrate the heritage of our site by telling the untold story of the last 100 years of its horticultural history within the village of Bradley with an aim of restoring our buildings from 1918.
To welcome visitors who want to come to our out of time sanctuary and enjoy a regenerative recharge in a green wellbeing space.
To foster in beneficiaries through connections to nature and each other skills and knowledge that will equip them for with climate, biodiversity, food and isolation challenges.
We will educate future generations by creating a safe environment for curiosity and safe engagement with the natural world.
We will create a focus and hub for our community from our neighbours in the surrounding areas of the Grange and Laceby Acres areas to the west of Grimsby, which are currently underserved in this regard.
To promote and protect biodiversity through selective rewilding and using the space to educate and celebrate the natural environment.
We will work with other service providers and green organisations to promote a love of local landscape and join a web of connections across the borough.
In order to have hope for the future we need to create places where people feel inspired, empowered to take action and where they can meet like-minded people.
We will use our charitable status to raise funds to develop and maintain our 3.5-acre site for the benefit of wildlife, visitors, volunteers, children and young people, and those who are socially isolated or excluded.
