Site areas

Our wildlife pond is home to marsh orchids in the spring and forms part of our art-inspired nature walk. The pond dates from 2009 when Green Futures originally set up on this former plant nursery. 

In 1914 this former meadow was purchased by Mr William Thickett who planned a plant nursery on this site. Our former agricultural buildings date from this time and are now used by volunteers and community groups.

We have five polytunnels, one used for drying our logs out, and four to grow produce under cover. 

Green Futures has its own orchard planted with heritage varieties of apples. It's a reminder of the Ticklers' orchards from the 20th century that once surrounded this site in Bradley. 

Our site has been used as a community garden and plant nursery since 1918.

When our site was set up in 2009 we planted a small woodland area which is now home to our wood carvings and gathering circle, as well as our 110-year-old water tower!

We are rewilding parts of our site and making wildlife welcome to our 3.5-acre green space to provide a vital home for nature. 

In 2026 we opened our nature walk, an art-themed walk around our wetland, woodland and orchard. This is a lovely therapeutic space.

We have a lovely garden area at the front of our site where we grow soft fruit, herbs, vegetables and wild flowers.

We have a lovely grassed space that's used for kids' activities in the summer months and as an events space

We are turning our back field into a meadow area with mowed pathways and plans for it to be used as an events space.

We have memorial trees planted in memory of loved ones and a lovely tranquil garden next to our woodland that's a lovely reflection space.
