Looking for ley lines
We've had some amazing carved posts done for our new nature walk, these were done by woodcarver Allen Stichler and now we are deciding where to put them in our woodland. Today volunteer Noel brought his dowsing rods on site and was finding ley lines so we can choose where to put the remaining posts. Our nature walk is starting to take shape, we just need the site to dry up a bit more as it's muddy out there! Using dowsing rods in the woodland.

Looking for fungi in the woods
We didn't think that their would be much to see when Tim Bruning, a fungi expert, came on site this morning, as it was starting to snow. But how wrong we were. Tim is sending some of the samples away for identification, but did identify in situ, turkey tails and netted crust. Tim looking for fungi on dead wood in our woods. These beautiful turkey tails look like oyster shells, and varied in colour from dun browns to oranges.

Trimming the trees!
Our orchard is home to lots of different heritage apple trees. Last month they were wassailed to by Grimsby Morris and this month our long-standing volunteer Kieran has bene pruning the trees, this makes sure that there will be plenty of light and air for the trees as they grow their apples through the summer. We will be using this year's apple crop to make juice again, as it was really popular last autumn and at the wassail. It's important to prune the trees before the end of February before...
